Part A: Online Instructor Training 1 (OIT 1)
The online instructor training workshop is for faculty who will teach either fully online asynchronous (no set meeting time) or hybrid classes (limited real-time meetings online or in-person). During training, faculty meet with Instructional Designers either remotely or in-person for two hours each week for 7-weeks to learn the HVCC online toolkit, online learning strategies, ADA compliance, and best practices for quality assurance. In between class sessions, faculty work on their own or with support to build the course they will be teaching. At the end of the workshop, the completed course build will run through a SUNY Online Course Quality Review OSCQR using the OSCQR rubric to ensure best practices in ADA compliance and quality assurance are present. The course is then sent to the faculty’s Department Chair for review and approval. Faculty can also earn CPE credits for training completion. Offered during Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. This training is Required by FA Labor Agreement to teach online/hybrid courses.
Part B: Course Design Review
At the completion of training the faculty trainee and an Instructional Designer (ID) will complete a review using the OSCQR rubric. A link to the faculty trainees rubric will be provide by the ID.
Part C: Department Chair Approval
Once training and the OSCQR rubric are completed, an Instructional Designer will send the OSCQR rubric and DC Approval Form to the DC for them to complete a review of the course with the faculty member and course approval.
