Online Instructor Training 1 (OIT 1)
This training is for faculty developing an online/hybrid course for the first time or new to teaching online at HVCC. If you taught online during COVID, did not take online instructor training, and would like to teach asynchronous online or hybrid courses, this training is for you. (D2L Brightspace Training for compensation per faculty contract and MOA, discuss with your DC)
The training is in a hybrid format, and we meet remotely or in person once a week for 2 hours for 7- weeks to learn best practices for online teaching and the Brightspace LMS. There will also be one-on-one appointments with an Instructional Designer to discuss your course-specific needs. You will develop and build your online/hybrid course when not in training. Upon completing your course build, your course will go through a SUNY Online Course Quality Review (OSCQR) using the OSCQR rubric with an OSCQR review team (ID, Faculty, DC). You can also earn CPE credits for training completion.
Offered during Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.

- Online Instructor 1.1: Tuesdays, 9:30 am to 11:30 am EDT in BTC 1033
- Dates: May 28th through July 16th (No class on 7/9)
- Online Instructor 1.2: Tuesdays, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm EDT on Zoom
- Dates: May 28th through July 16th (No class on 7/9)
- Online Instructor 1.3: Wednesdays, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm EDT in BTC 1033
- Dates: May 22nd through July 17th (No classes 6/19 and 7/10)
- Online Instructor 1.4: Thursdays, 9:30 pm to 11:30 am EDT on Zoom
- Dates: May 23rd through July 18th (No classes 7/4 and 7/11)
