Quiz graded but not appearing in Grades?

If you have a graded quiz attempt but it is not appearing in your grade book there are a few areas to check and settings that can be adjusted to fix. 

Grade Item Needs to be Associated with the Quiz

1. Go to Gradable Activities and select Quizzes
2. Click on the Name of the Quiz
3. If Grade Out Of is set to Not in Grade book click on the menu and select Add to Grade book

This will connect the Quiz to the Grade book. You will still need to set up the Evaluation & Feedback settings and/or Publish & Export the grades.

Evaluation & Feedback Settings

1. Go to Gradable Activities and select Quizzes
2. Click on the Name of the Quiz
3. Expand the Evaluation & Feedback section on the right
4. Check that both Auto Publish and Synchronize to grade book are checked

Check if Quiz Grades are Published

1. Go to Gradable Activities and select Quizzes
2. Click on the Menu (chevron) for the Quiz and select Grade
3. Select all learners (at the bottom of the page change the number of users to display to show all students) that have a graded attempt
4. Click the link to Publish

Quiz Grades Hidden in Faculty View

1. Click Grades
2. From the Manage Grades screen, locate the grade column where the grades are not showing 
3. Click on the Menu (chevron) for that grade item and select Edit
4. Scroll down to the section for Display Options if the Managing view is not checked click the option to Override Display Options and select what you want to view for that item
5. Click Save and Close when finished

Quiz Grades Hidden in Student View

1. Click Grades
2. From the Manage Grades screen, locate the grade column where the grades are not showing 
3. Click on the Menu (chevron) for that grade item and select Edit
4. Select the Restrictions tab. The Availability Start Date and End Dates here control when the grade is visible to students. These settings are not related to the quiz availability. Ensure that these restrictions are set correctly for when you want students to be able to see the quiz grade or if they should always see them ensure that they are unchecked. 
5. Click Save and Close when finished

Manually Publishing and Exporting Quiz Grades

If the "Automatically Publish Evaluation" and "Synchronize to Grade Book" were off/are off the following is how to manually do these two functions

NOTE: Only auto-gradable portions of the quiz are auto-published. Written Response questions will always need to be graded and published. Additionally Short Answer, and Fill in the Blanks should be checked even if auto-graded. 

1. Publish the Grades for Student View
   • Go to Gradable Activities and select Quizzes
   • Click on the Menu (chevron) for the Quiz and select Grade
   • Select all learners (at the bottom of the page change the number of users to display to show all students) that have a graded attempt
   • Click the link to Publish
2. Export Quiz Grades to Grade Book
   • After following the steps to Publish grades
   • Select all learners with Published scores
   • Click Export to Grades

NOTE: The grades will export to the grade book item associated to the quiz. If there is not a grade book item associated that will need to be completed first.
