The Fortinet VPN client, also known as FortiClient, is a software tool for secure remote access to your organization's network. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough to install the Fortinet VPN client on your device.
Step 1: Download the Installer
- Visit the Fortinet Product Downloads and navigate to the "Downloads" section.
- Then at the very bottom of the page select the section named: FortiClient VPN
- Select the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux).
- Click on the download link to start downloading the installer file.
Step 2: Launch the Installer
Locate the downloaded installer file in your "Downloads" folder or the specified directory. Double-click the FortiClientVPNOnlineInstaller.exe installer file to begin the installation process. If prompted, grant necessary permissions for the installation to proceed.
Step 3: Install the Software
Review and accept the End User License Agreement (EULA). Click "Install" or "Next" to initiate the installation process. The installer will copy files and configure settings automatically. Wait for the process to complete; this may take a few minutes depending on your device.
Step 4: Complete the Installation
Once the installation is finished, you will see a confirmation screen. Click "Finish" to close the installer. Depending on your operating system, you may be prompted to restart your device to finalize the setup.
Step 5: Configure the VPN Client
- Open the FortiClient VPN application.
- Select Configure VPN
- Enter the VPN configuration details.
- Connection Name: HVCC VPN
- Description: HVCC VPN
- Remote Gateway: vpn.hvcc.edu
- Save the settings and test the connection by entering your hvcc email and password, then click "Connect."
Step 6: Troubleshooting
If the VPN client fails to connect:
- Verify that the server details are entered correctly.
- Ensure your internet connection is active.
